Tottori, Japan, 9 October 2025

Tottori, Japan, 9 October 2925 None of my photos are staged; I photograph what I pass by. The reason? I find what I stumble across more intriguing than what I (can) imagine; I'm much more interested in what is than in what is made up. Needless to say, what is made up can become intriguing too, as the photo above demonstrates.

What you cannot see ...

Image
Hiroshima, Japan, 12 October 2025 What you cannot see when looking at this photographs are the many attempts I made when taking it. In other words, this is one version of many. Why I decided to post this one here I do not really know (I'm not into post-rationalisations) yet I find the taking of pictures one thing, the selecting process afterwards however  quite another.

A Surprise

Image
Tottori, Japan, 7 October 2025 Ambling through the Japanese town of Tottori means to be surrounded by modern and often pretty futuristic looking buildings. Now imagine my suprise when all of a sudden I came across the above house, not somewhere on the outskirts but right behind the central train station.

On Simplicity

Tottori, Japan, 7 October 2025 Nothing is more difficult than being simple. Japanese architecture, to my mind, is art 'cause  it has the courage to be simple and unexpected.
